Wait in Hope

Hey, y’all, it’s Daisy. Let’s look ahead at our week together. I really love this journal because it helps me on a daily basis, consistently every single week, get my heart and my mind on the same page as God. I just feel so much more prepared and equipped to face life on a daily basis because my faith is getting stronger. I don’t even know how to put it into words. I feel like God is just my best friend.

I will pull out my journal in the middle of traffic sometimes! I’ll be in standstill traffic, and I’m like, “Maybe I’m just going to reread what my devotional was this morning.” I don’t know. It just keeps God at the forefront of my mind. Do not read your journal in traffic. That was not an advertisement to start causing wrecks on the highway! Be seated somewhere before you start to read your journal or write in it. Definitely don’t write on the highway.

If you don’t have our Alone With God journal, you can get one at wordbymail.com. Let’s look ahead at the week together.

Psalm 33:20-22 (NIV)
20 We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

What a beautiful verse. You know, hope is such an important asset to have in this life. I’ve been thinking about this so, so much. And forgive me if my other devotionals have kind of touched on this, but I just think that sometimes, when the world is dark and things feel bleak, we almost put away our hope as a way to cope and avoid disappointment.

And so, my reminder for you and for myself today is that as you start this week, please don’t throw your hope away. No matter what is on the news. No matter what is happening in your life. No matter what you see out there in this crazy world. Remember that God has promised us a hopeful ending to our story. He is the light at the end of this tunnel. And the hope that we have in Jesus is a secure hope. It is a promised hope. We know that our story has a greater ending, so then we can make space within this in-between period to focus on gratitude and joy even in the midst of hardship and chaos. So, hang in there and be hopeful. Be hopeful!

Let’s pray together. Lord, help me to trust you within the unfolding mysteries of this life. Guide me. Minister to me. Comfort me. Help me to seek you and find answers. Encourage me when I don’t find answers. Encourage me when my faith is fleeting. And help me to stand on stable ground with the hope that you have given me. I ask to see more of your love and your light, and I ask you to fill up my life with hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.
