Journal Guide - God's Love is Forever - Isaiah 54:10

God's Love is Forever
Isaiah 54:10

Week 6/Day 2

Hello everybody. My name is Daisy, and today I’m inviting you to join me as we open our Bibles and spend some quality alone time with God together. To follow along, you need your Bible, pen, and a designated journal. If you have our Alone With God journal, please follow along with us in your journal notes. If you don’t have our Alone With God journal, you can order one at wordbymail.com. The Alone With God journal is the perfect way to practice spending alone time in the scripture and helping you transform your life through the Living Word of God.

Today we are going to be meditating on Isaiah 54:10. I will read the verse a couple of times, and then I would like you to read the verse on your own so that the scripture really sinks in as we meditate on it.

Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)
10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Go ahead now, and in the Meditate section of your journal page, write down what God’s Word is saying. Check the surrounding verses to help you understand the context of the scripture. Let the words sink in. What are the spiritual principles in this verse? What’s the significance?

This verse is so powerful because, as humans, no matter how hard we try, we eventually let people down. It’s just who we are as humans. We can’t balance everything. We might say the wrong thing. We might forget a birthday or an anniversary, but God never lets us down. He remembers every single thing about us. He knows us to our very core, inside and out. All that we’ve done, all that we will do. It’s not a surprise to him.

He doesn’t pull his love away from us. He has the capacity to love us in a way and to know us in a way that mere humans just can’t. So, there’s no limit to his love. And no matter how much we mess up or how messy our lives are, or how chaotic, God does not abandon us. And he is always compassionate toward us.

So, let’s take a moment, and in the Apply section of your journal, write down your thoughts about what stands out to you in this verse. Some questions you can think about when you’re applying this verse to your life are: have you ever felt unlovable? Why? When God declares that his love for you is unchanging, how does that make you feel? Do you believe it? Is there any area of your life where you feel like you need God’s peace and compassion? Think about it, and write down your thoughts. Apply the scripture to your life.

Now, we are going to take a moment and respond to God’s Word with action. In the Respond section, write down what action you can take this week to bring this verse to life. How is God asking you to grow in your relationship with him? And in what ways is he asking you to surrender to his love and to move in faith? What action will you take today in response to this truth?

Finally, we are going to close in prayer. I will pray first, and then you’ll take some time, and in the Pray section of your journal page, write a prayer of your own to God in response to your time with him. Pray to align your heart with the will of God on the truth of this verse. Thank him for speaking to you through his Word.

Let’s pray.

God, thank you. Thank you for loving us with such an unconditional and unwavering love. You never miss a moment of our lives, and yet you love us in the midst of all of our chaos. You have redeemed us, and you have given us new life through Christ. Help us to use this short human life to honor and to worship you from now until our final breath. In Jesus’ name, amen.
