What Am I Grateful For? Wk02 - Colossians 3:15

What Am I Grateful For This Week?
Colossians 3:15

Week 2/Day 6

Hi everybody, it’s Pastor Dave, and it is “Grateful” day. This is the day of the week where we stop and reflect and write down what we are grateful to God for. If you have an Alone With God journal, open it to the page titled “What I Grateful For This Week?” And grab your Bible and open it to Colossians 3, verse 15. And while you’re doing that, let me say if you don’t have a journal, be sure and get one. You can order one on the Word By Mail phone app or at wordbymail.com.

Alright, so if you’ve got your journal and you’ve got your Bible, turn them both to the appropriate pages, “What Am I Grateful For This Week?” (and you can even do this in your own blank journal), and Colossians 3, verse 15 in your Bible.

Let’s start by reading that verse and praying that God would remind us what we are grateful for.

Colossians 3:15 (NLT)
15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Let’s read it one more time. Let the peace… comes from the Hebrew word Shalom. It means everything in its place, nothing missing, nothing broken. Let the peace that comes from Christ… or comes in Christ… it comes from Christ, and you let that peace rule in your hearts. And the word “rule” means to act like an umpire, to make decisions in your heart. Let the peace that comes from Christ  make decisions in your hearts. For as members of one body… and we are, guys. We are. There’s one universal Body of Christ, and all true believers are part of that Body. …as members of that one body you are called to live in peace. There’s that word again, to live in “peace.” And then the end of the verse says, And always be thankful. Always be thankful. We can always be thankful.

Alright, let’s pray.

Heavenly Father, we can always be thankful. We’re grateful, Lord, we’re grateful to you for today. Lord, we’re grateful for you bringing us through this week. We’re grateful, Lord, for the things you’ve done in us and through us and for us and around us this week, Lord. We are grateful today. And we pray, Lord, that peace that comes even from our gratefulness to you, that peace from Christ may rule in our hearts. May we live in peace with the Body. And Lord, may we always be thankful. In your precious name, Jesus, we say thank you and amen.

Alright, now, with your heart ready, first, write a few Answered Prayers in that section in your journal. Write what prayers you’ve seen God answer this week. Maybe it’s as simple as your daily bread. Maybe it’s as powerful as sensing his presence. Maybe it’s him protecting your family and providing for them. And maybe it’s something else. But first, write down what prayers God has answered for you this week. So go ahead and do that and then come back.

And then, finally, let’s really stop down today and ask the question, “What Am I Grateful For?” This is so good for us. “What Am I Grateful For This Week?” Look around. Look around your life. Do a quick review. God’s Word says always be thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Wherever you’re at today, you have something to be grateful for. And you have something to be thankful for to God. So, I’m just going to stop talking, and I’m going to let you write. You write down what you are grateful for to God this week, and I will see you soon. Bye-bye.
