Showered in Blessing

Showered in Blessing
Ephesians 1:3-8

Today’s devotion is coming from Ephesians 1:3-8, and is titled “Showered in Blessing.” Grab your Bible, a notebook or journal, and something to write with. Quiet your heart, and be prepared to meet with God, by his Spirit, and through his living Word.

Ephesians 1:3-8 (NLT)
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.
7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

That is an awesome set of verses.

Really, honestly, we should be praising God like crazy right now because God blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with (Jesus) Christ.

And even before he made the world, before the world began, God loved (you). And he chose (you) to be holy, to be righteous, in Christ in his eyes. Meaning that when God looks at us, he sees the work of Jesus Christ making us holy.

God decided … to adopt (you) into his family by bringing (you) to (him) through Jesus. And that gives God great pleasure today. He did it for his good pleasure.

And so, again, we should be praising God today. As we go on our way today, we should be praising God. Because he has poured out his incredible glorious grace on (each one of) us who belong to Jesus Christ.

And, he has forgiven our sins. And not only has God showered (all of) his kindness on us, and showered all of his blessing on us, but along with his kindness, and along with his blessing, God has made all wisdom and understanding available to us by his Word and through his Holy Spirit.

Let’s pray through these verses.

Heavenly Father, I just praise your mighty name right now, Lord. I just pray, Lord, that you would enable every fiber in my being to praise you today because you, God, have blessed me with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because, Lord, I’m united with your Son, Jesus Christ. Not for any other reason, Lord. I can’t earn it. I don’t deserve it. I can’t attain it. But by me receiving Christ by faith and being spiritually united with him, all of the blessings in the heavenly realms, you pour out on me. You shower me with them.

And Lord, it’s amazing, that even before you made the world you saw me and you loved me. And you chose me to be holy and righteous in Christ, through my identification with Christ in your eyes. And Lord, I just thank you so much that when you look at me you see your Son, and you see the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ when you look at me.

And Lord, you decided to adopt me into your family by bringing me to you through Christ. Lord, I thank you for doing that. And Lord, I thank you that you adopting me into your family gives you great pleasure. Lord, I want to put a smile on your face today. I want the fact that I’m your child today to give you great pleasure.

And so, Lord, I am praising you today. And as I go today, I commit to be praising you, Lord, because you have poured out your incredible, glorious grace on me because I belong to Christ.

And Father, you are so rich in kindness and grace that you purchased my freedom with the blood of your Son. You redeemed me by paying the full price, Lord, that was owed because of my sin, by paying that with the blood of Jesus Christ.

And Lord, not only have you showered me with blessing and with kindness, but along with your kindness and blessing, Lord, you have made all of your wisdom and understanding available to me through your Holy Spirit.

I pray Lord, that you would send me off today walking, and leaping, and praising you, Lord. That I would remember to praise you, today, and all days. I pray that would fill me with your Spirit that I would know just a portion of the great blessing you have showered upon me. Go with me now, today, I pray in your precious and mighty name, Jesus, amen.
