You Alone Are My Inheritance
Today, we will be reading through some verses from Psalm 16, and then we’ll be praying through them. Our prayer for today is titled, “You Alone Are My Inheritance.” Grab a Bible, a notebook or journal, and something to write with. I encourage you to meditate on these verses, and have a meaningful interaction time with God.
Psalm 16 (NLT) (selected verses)
1 Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.
2 I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.”

5 Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
6 The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!

8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
Now that you have spent some time to really hear from God in these verses, let’s pray through them together.
Lord, please, I pray today that you would Keep me safe… for I have come to you alone for refuge. Lord, my faith today is in you, alone. All of my faith, Lord.
Lord, I say to you today, “You alone are my master! You alone are my God. You are my King. Every good thing I have comes from you.”
Lord, you alone are my inheritance, you are my cup of blessing. And you guard all that you have given me. All that I have, Lord, is all that you’ve given me. And Lord, because of you, my cup overflows with blessing today.
And Lord, The land (this place) that you have given me is a pleasant land. Lord the inheritance you have given me is a wonderful inheritance! Because, Lord, this land is where you have placed me, and it is what you have given me. And so, Lord, it’s pleasant because of you. It’s wonderful because of the inheritance I have waiting for me in you.
And Lord, I know that you are always with me. And Lord, because you are always with me, I will not be shaken. I will not be shaken, today, Lord, because you are right beside me. You are with me, Lord, and I will walk hand-in-hand with you, today.
And Lord, You will show me the way of life, and Lord, you will set my path before me, granting me the joy of your presence and the unimaginable and indescribable pleasures of living with you forever, for eternity.
And so, Lord, my prayer today is that I would walk closely with you. Because only in your presence is there fullness of joy, Lord. And only in walking closely with you are the greatest and most lasting pleasures of both this life and all eternity.
And so, Lord, I pray that you would keep these truths on my mind, today. That you would lead me and guide me for your name’s sake, that you would set my path before me, today, and that you would cause me to walk in the joy of your presence. For your glory, and in your life-changing name, Jesus, amen.
Let’s set our minds on walking closely with the Lord, today. Let’s set our minds on walking in the joy of his presence. Whatever is on your plate today, whatever lies before you, hold on tightly to the Lord Jesus, and walk with him – in his presence – through your day.
