Everything we are as Christians is bound up in the cross and in the resurrection.

Jesus Christ took our place: First, on the cross, where He paid the full penalty due for our sin, on our behalf! Then, in the resurrection, where He conquered death and the grave, again on our behalf! He became our substitute, our stand-in. He did it in our place.

Then, through the God-designed miracle of identification by faith, when we put our full faith in Christ and His work, we become so identified with Him that what He did, becomes what we did. His full payment for sin becomes our full payment for sin, and His resurrection from the dead becomes our resurrection from the dead.   Read more...

John MacArthur, in his commentary on Jn 15 says; Abiding in Christ is the source of the abundant life Jesus speaks of in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” My ministry experience has totally confirmed this over and over again. Abiding in Christ is the source of the abundant life. This is a HUGE truth to understand. If we are not abiding in Christ, we should not expect to be experiencing the abundant life Jesus promised. However, here is the real truth that we must allow to really pierce our hearts; Abiding in Christ is conditional.    Read more...

Heb 4:14-16 - “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”    Read more...

You want to know what is so incredible that it is almost unbelievable? We are His inheritance! We are His portion. He loved us so much that He gave Himself for us. We are His jewel. We are His inheritance.

It seems like God got the 'short end' of the deal, doesn't it? Like if someone gives you a $1,000 Christmas gift, and you give them something from the .99 cent store. What are we, that He cares so much for us, that He loves us so much, that He would consider us His inheritance?

So often, we question His love for us. Because He's not doing things the way we want Him to. But how often do we just stop, and rest, in the assurance and confidence that we are His inheritance, His portion, His jewel?    Read more...

Have you placed yourself in an environment of sustained
spiritual growth?

In the book of Nehemiah, from Ch 8 to the end, we see Nehemiah
and Ezra create an environment of sustained spiritual growth. At the beginning of
Ch 8 we see an event in some ways like our evangelism crusades, or at least
like a good “salvation message.” With the people responding to the preaching of
God’s Word with emotion and celebration, much like our evangelism services.

However, many people today who initially respond to God’s
Word with emotion and celebration, miss the critical next step seen in Nehemiah
8:13; The very next day after the big evangelism service, the family leaders
met with Ezra and began DIGGING IN to God’s Word. This is the critical 2nd step
to creating an environment of sustained spiritual growth.   Read more...

At the end of 1John, in Chapter 5 verses 13-20, we have 5 great assurances that John uses to close his letter. Let’s take a quick Bible quiz & see if you can find the five great assurances in these 8 verses. I know it sounds like grade school, but try it, it’ll be fun. Here are the 5 assurances to look for:

 1) Assurance of Eternal Life (v.13). This is the
theme verse for 1John. This is why he wrote the letter.

When I look at the life-change in the original disciples of Jesus, there's one thing they had that I think maybe we've tried to 'circumvent'; TIME. They spent time with Jesus. Real time. They walked with Him and they talked with Him, and it wasn't just a song. It was the way they really lived, day in and day out.

We really want the life-change, don't we? But do we really want to invest the time & discipline to walk with Him, and to talk with Him, every day?
