At the end of 1John, in Chapter 5 verses 13-20, we have 5 great assurances that John uses to close his letter. Let’s take a quick Bible quiz & see if you can find the five great assurances in these 8 verses. I know it sounds like grade school, but try it, it’ll be fun. Here are the 5 assurances to look for:
1) Assurance of Eternal Life (v.13). This is the
theme verse for 1John. This is why he wrote the letter.
2) Assurance in Prayer (v.14-17). Two double
edged truths, each with a “qualification.” The second truth, in verses 16-17,
is a tough one. You may have to listen to the message to see that one.
3) Assurance of Protection (v.18). NKJ version is a little unclear here. It’s Jesus that protects us from the evil one.
4) Assurance of our Citizenship (v.19). We are not of
this world. Which means we are not under the power of the evil one.
5) Assurance that we KNOW Him (v.20). This is my
favorite. We can KNOW that we can KNOW Him.
Go ahead, take a few minutes, turn to 1Jn 5:13-20, and see if you can find these 5 great assurances. May God bless
